PROCESS

Discovery Our services commence as we work with you to “discover” the true needs of your organization, to understand your values and the way your organization functions. Once these are clarified, we move to the next phase which we call “envisioning”. At this time, we as a team begin to look outside of the box for not only physical solutions, but operational solutions as we envision what could be and what should be. If a physical solution is required, we will develop a program which sets the parameters for developing initial creative ideas in graphic form. As these design ideas take form and are further refined, we make sure that the client is very involved in the process through a series of interactive work sessions.
Envisioning During our work sessions with the client, we extensively use 3-D computer simulations where we can modify our designs “on the fly” during client meetings where we view the building elements on-screen. This accelerates the whole design and decision-making process.
"Blueprinting" We then move into the “blueprinting” phase where specific materials, systems and technology are considered and applied to the design. “Blueprints” have evolved today and refer to the documents prepared by architects and engineers which fully describe the design intent for the contractors and suppliers. These documents are now prepared using computer aided design. At MOEN Architecture, we use new holistic, object-oriented CAD technology where we develop a three-dimensional computer model of the envisioned structure(s) or spaces. As we build a prototype building in the computer, we can specify attributes for each building component such as material, color or cost. This data is then communicated to the contractor with drawings (views of the model, schedules and written material specifications. During this phase, we also lead the client through a decision-making process where the effectiveness of the proposed design is tested against the desired outcome and cost ramifications.
Implementation Finally, we move into the most rewarding but challenging phase, “implementation”. The design is now transformed from a design on paper to a living and breathing entity where cost, schedule, quality and a much larger team join together build the physical solution. Teamwork, organization and strong communication are key ingredients at this stage. We promote the use of sophisticated technology and qualified construction professionals to insure that your investment of time and money successfully achieves the original vision.
