Cornerstone Church of Long Beach

This young, growing church in need of a permanent home acquired a former 40,000 s.f. office building for their new facility. With an emphasis on fellowship and ministry involvement and faced with a new facility which had minimal outdoor congregating space, the design provided an indoor courtyard which acts as a spine to connect the major assembly spaces with the building entrances. By stretching out the lobby, it encourages personal encounters and exposure to the different ministry booths which line the pathway. The courtyard design incorporates the use of banners and fabric screens which add color and life to the spaces along with an internal coffee bar. The sanctuary is designed as a multi-function assembly space which can accommodate a variety of venues and seating arrangements. Moen Architecture provided a 3D virtual building tour to the church to aid in fundraising.
